who we are
Founded in 2026, we are a volunteer-led organization advocating for exceptional experiences at Maine State Parks, investments in State Historic Sites, and high quality stewardship of Maine’s Public Reserved Lands, boat access sites, and rail trails. We incorporated in the Spring of 2026. Today we are actively recruiting a board of directors and policy committee members. We plan to stay volunteer-driven, lean, bi-partisan, and inclusive. Reach out to us if you are interested in a governance role. Active today in organizational formation are Alan Stearns, Eliza Townsend, Chace Jackson, Jessica Leahy, Luke Frankel, and Brad Miller.
We plan to work actively with the many existing friends groups that support various state parks, historic sites, and public lands units. But we will never replace those groups.
Here are links to some of those existing friends groups:
- Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation
- Friends of Fort Knox
- Friends of Colonial Pemaquid
- Friends of Peary’s Eagle Island
- Friends of Camden Hills State Park (links coming soon)
- Arnold Expedition Historical Society
- West Quoddy Head Light Keepers Association
